This is a common situation against an aggressive player. They bet, you 3bet preflop with a KK type hand.

The flop comes 972. They bet, you reraise big, and they shove. It looks like a set but an aggressive opponent would play this way with JJ, QQ, KK, AA and these combinations outweigh the set combinations. There's some very aggressive opponents that would play this way with an 88 or TT. It makes it even harder to include 77 and 99 in their range since they called the 3bet OOP which looks more like a JJ, QQ, or on rare occassion, I've seen AK played this way. They probably wouldn't call a 3bet w/ 99 or 77 but I've been running into this a lot lately.

Is there a way to avoid paying off the set?
