Thoughts on checking the river? My thinking was that I was willing to pay off this guy no matter what and that this way I could at least catch bluffs.

A much better line is pot-pot-"screw him, I have a set." If you bet $1 more on the flop, then $2.50 more on the turn, then the river really doesn't matter.

I think this is pretty read dependent. Not all that many hands he could have with an 8 in them unless he's a complete donk. Maybe A/images/graemlins/club.gif8/images/graemlins/club.gif, 98s, 87s, T8s.

Anyway, coming into the river I think you have the best hand the majority of the time. If you're beat you're just going to have to pay him off here I think. So you need to balance value from an A with inducing a bluff. If you think he's capable of bluffing with a missed draw then go ahead and check, but if he's a calling station I'd just fire again.

Against an unknown, I'd probably fire again and hope he has an A.

Great hand, nice check on the end. Just balance this play with the right opponents but it seems like you picked the right one this time.

push river. this will go check-check too often and will stunt your winrate. get value from Ax. you are rarely beat here.

Grunch...you need a read to do this and get the proper value. I'd probably just bet out and get called, and fist pump.
