View Full Version : Paying ME entry with Bellagio Chips

Based on people's advice from this forum, I wired my money to the Bellagio instead of the Rio. Does anyone know if I can pay for entry fee with Bellagio chips or do I need to take cash?

Thanks,
Jeff

flags r no problem for the other events, I assume ME is the same.

My roommate paid in with 2 flags. You won't have a problem.

Wow, really?

considering the problem that Nolan Dalla had with his $5k flag a few months ago I would almost never consider doing this.
Seems strange to me that Harrah's seemingly has no problem with it.

i've used flags to buy into a few events already. you'll be fine.

Nolan Dalla had a problem with an MGM chip, not a Bellagio.

can someone link me to this post? i remember reading it but want to reread it. nolan didn't try to cash an MGM chip at another MGM property did he? because if that's what he did, that's still standard practice. i have had it done for me before (mirage chips changed to bellagio chips) but you can't just get it done at the cage.

for the record i am 100% confused by people saying they have used bellagio flags at the rio, because that is NOT what they used to do.

Read Nolan Dalla's article (http://www.twoplustwo.com/magazine/issue28/Dalla0407.html) in the Two Plus Two Internet Magazine.

Has been OK to buy-in with B flags since WSOP has been at Rio.

What ever happened to Nolan, did the bad publicity work, and he ever get his money back?

Geez, this is just about as bad (perhaps worse) than what happened to the guy that started the thread here:

about the bounced Harrahs $269k check for his winnings in one of this years WSOP events.

correct, but it doesn't stop the fact that cashing larger denomination chips seems to be a slightly riskier situation than it was before regardless of what casino they came from or are being cashed-out at.

Good to hear that Rio is not giving any hassles about this sort of thing apparently.

They will not take flags unless they confirm you first. I'm not sure exactly what the process entails, but they look your name up for a record of you receiving the flags from the Bellagio. Given that you wired money to the Bellagio, it's pretty safe to say they will have a record of you receiving the flags.

Doesn't MGM own Bellagio?

That is how it has been in the past, and is this year for everywhere but Bellagio. Apparently they decided this year that they would avoid a whole lot of hassle and just accept Bellagio chips (minus $25k) without any questions.
Of course this doesnt mean that some random cashiers/supervisors are doing it differently.

Ive used flags and 1k chips to pay for almost all my buyins so far, including the main event with no problem. They also accept bellagio chips for the rebuys in the rebuy tourneys.

Thanks for the info guys. I am going with the flags. That will be much better than carrying $10k in cash.
