Strange line here...

Maybe fold its correct, but why villain bets so much now ?! Its like a missed clubs, maybe TP. 2pairs or set he should raise flop or river...

I think i call, but its close.

that's gross. You might want to lead the river for like 1/2 pot. He could be on a lot of draws and is just taking advantage of the scare card when you check it to him.

As played, gotta fold

2:1, enough for busted flush draws? I dont know really. This looks like it could be a fold but I think it's pretty close, especially since you induced a bluff on the river. I don't really expect to see an 8 that often. I'm just going to give my standard 'marginal spot' answer. Sorry.

I'm interested in hearing arguments about betting vs. checking the river.

Tough. This is a spot where a small blocking/value bet would be useful. It depends on what he thinks you think of your hand. He's gotta think you have at least top pair, so against a random it's probably a value bet with something that beats you. I fold.

After thinking it over, I like the check instead of a bet on the river. If you bet the river and he raises, you have committed yourself to call his small remaining amount of money anyway. That being said, if you bet he has a chance to fold a missed draw, but if you check, now he can bluff his missed draw. Of course there is definitely a chance you are hosed. But if you were going to bet the river, you could check and induce the bluff. Because you would be spending basically the same amount of money either way, just one way includes him taking a big shot at the pot. But it's still tough, because he could definitely have an eight or a flush lol. I call say a couple of curse words if I lose.

I don't know, that could definitely go either way. Very tough spot imo.

If you plan to fold to a bet, I think you should throw out a blocking bet instead. He's almost never bluff-raising this river and you'll probably get value from top pair.

The only problem with this line is that he might very well check behind with 2-pair but call a bet. But he doesn't have 2 pair here all that often I don't think.

If you plan to call a bet on the end, I think checking might be better (?). It might induce a bluff and some better hands might check behind. You lose value from TP hands that would call a bet but I think that's outweighed by the other considerations.

I'm not really sure though, that could be all wrong.

Oh, and as played I fold the river here without a read. I just don't think he's bluffing 1/3 times here.
