i would check the river to induce a bluf i think. By that u keep the pot a little smaller in case he has a flush

Don't think so.. by river, the shove is only 1/2 pot bet, so he's committed to call any raise by villain. May as well shove it, maximize FE, and don't give villain chance to think he can bluff you off. Pots big enough that we don't necessarily want to see showdown.

I'd think about checkraising the turn all in. I don't think it's so bad if the turn gets checked through, if that's what happens.

I didn't really want to give a free card, because it looked like he was on a str8 draw.

Villain is a complete retard, 75/6/1, so there's almost no chance he'd bet if I checked it to him.

Well, you have the read and were there (and any sort of read you can provide in your OP will get you better answers), but if he was on a straight draw, he likely got there on the turn (or would he call 3/4 pot with a gutshot?). With a 75% VPIP, 1 isn't that passive, so if you checked to him and he had a strong draw, I would expect him to semi-bluff.
