Villain seemed decent up to this point.
What is the best line to extract the most value?
The check will induce a c-bet a fair amount of the time, but by then raising am I showing too much strength?
And what about after his 3-bet?
I assumed he was pot committed so I just shoved right away, but apparently not.
Should I call and wait til the turn?

He 3-bet flop and folded to shove? Wow. Yeah, I think this shove is called 98%+ of the time so nothing wrong with it.

every now and again i would just call the 3bet and then cr ai on the turn, or open push the river if we check through on the turn.

well here I dont wanna risk losing action if a third club comes, so this might not be the right time to just call the 3bet

You played it correctly. Just unlucky you were up against a good player, you will get your shove called here at these stakes by a lot of hands.
