I've been trying to open my game up a little and raising things like this from LP if it's folded to me. I'm not used to playing with questionable kickers though.

Is this an automatic call on the river with no reads? I think it is, but with no reads I didn't feel like I could be ahead.

I would be calling $1 to win $4. So many hands beat me though.

What do you think of the turn bet btw? I was going to check here, but with 3 to a straight and a flush draw being possible I felt I had to protect my hand more so than getting a cheap showdown -- should I be check/calling instead allowing draws to catch up because my kicker is too gross to put more $ into the pot?

It's kind of hard to play without kicker but I think if you call the river bet you have played this hand perfectly. You have to call because you checked and he could be betting a bustet flushdraw straightdraw or even a worse king. maybe hes got nothing at all. betting the river would have been dumb. i guess you could have checked the turn because of your straightdraw but protection is fine on nl 5 i guess. well played.

River depending on who it is, I'll either bet $2.50 or c/c if I feel they're on a draw or have something marginal that will bet river but not call a river bet.

Reef, what kind of villain types will you lead out on the river? vpip/pfr/aggro levels -- or does this go beyond numbers and you only do it when the villain is a super passive station who has been known to call down with a weak TP?

I suppose I should have waited more than a few hands to start making questionable raises PF. Lately I've found to have MUCH better results when I start off playing aggressive (and am taking down pots, with or without showdowns).

For some reason people at this level don't care about your stats or how you're playing in a big picture sense, but they tend to fear you a whole lot more if you get off to a good start.

Fold PF. As played I would shutdown after villain called the c-bet. The board is so dangerous, you can't beat much. Depending on villain I would check/call down or check/fold.

the most obvious are people who we have tons of value against: fish, stations, showdown monkeys.

I am less likely to bet against straightforwards , tricky , nitty , or very agros.
