The king turned up, i have middle pair and I do not have position, I won that specific hand but am wondering if this is a profitable move in the long run. I run across many similar plays and was wondering.

Meh it's not terrible, but I think I'd just try to check down. When you're called, you're only beating straight draws and random A2 type hands.

Edit: Yeah, a flop bet is definitely good. Not sure why I didn't even think of that.

I would bet the flop. It's HU and you have a pair.
