Villain is 49/11/.66, but his river AF is 2.3. I am playing on Stars, so I don't have the same HUD layout as on FT.

Poker Stars - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.10/$0.25 Blinds - 5 Players - (LegoPoker HH Converter (http://www.legopoker.com/hh))

SB: $25.00
BB: $42.10
UTG: $9.70
Hero (CO): $32.80
BTN: $9.65

Preflop: Hero is dealt A/images/graemlins/diamond.gif A/images/graemlins/club.gif (5 Players)
UTG folds, <font color="red">Hero raises to $1.00</font>, 2 folds, BB calls $0.75

Flop: ($2.10) 5/images/graemlins/heart.gif 6/images/graemlins/club.gif 9/images/graemlins/spade.gif (2 Players)
<font color="red">BB bets $0.75</font>, <font color="red">Hero raises to $3.25</font>, BB calls $2.50

Turn: ($8.60) 4/images/graemlins/spade.gif (2 Players)
BB checks, Hero checks

River: ($8.60) 5/images/graemlins/spade.gif (2 Players)
<font color="red">BB bets $4.25</font>, Hero calls $4.25

Pot Size: $17.10 ($0.80 Rake)

PF, flop standard for me. Not sure what he is betting/calling with on the flop.

Should I have bet the turn and/or river here instead of going for my slightly fancy play of inducing a river bet?

bet turn. these fish put you on unpaired overcards 99% of the time. let him call you down with A6. now, if you get raised, well we might have a problem.

[/ QUOTE ]You call this fancy? I call it bad. Betting = making money.

At 50 NL (which I assume, in this situation, is almost identical to 25 NL), can somebody explain to me why betting the turn is optimal? Then, if hero bets the turn, does he shove if villian raises?

I guess they are bet/folding the turn? I'm really not sure.

Read up on the Baluga(sp?) theorem, you can find a link in SSNL FAQ. If you are raised on the turn depending on your read you can either raise or fold.
