Villian is a normal 20 buy in short stacker who pushes PF w/88+ATo. Can we call this shove?

... Why? You think Ace high is good?

I think he may have only a pair and we have 10 out twice to beat that(@40%). Villian can't have a set as he pushes preflop with 88+. He could have JT or Q9s. There's a little bit of dead $ in the pot. Were getting 1.5 to 1. I folded but wondered if calling could be correct.

Well, you have ten outs, plus a backdoor flush if he just has like top pair or a pocket pair, so about 45% chance to make a winning hand. However, if he has a straight, you're down to 3-4 outs (depending on if he has the Q-high straight) plus the backdoor flush, so 20% or so. If he has a set, you're in worse shape because even if you make your hand, the board might pair.

I'd just fold

I don't think you can ever call this.

You aren't deep enough to make this call to chase when Ace High is no good.

You would have to be "hoping" and praying he is on a smaller straight draw at best.

Do you really want to call with a straight draw and two overs on hopes and prayers?

Just because you get outflopped, doesn't mean you can't pick a better hand to bust this guy. If anything he has a better read on you and where you were at in the hand.

I would fold and pick a better spot and save my money.

This is a really easy fold, I can think of a lot of better things to throw half a stack at
