Hand 1 - your flop push was fine IMO. You got very unlucky to be up against two combo draws - but you got your money in ahead (slightly) and you should worry too much when you lose when you do that. An alternative of course was to call the flop raise, then push the turn - which may have given you a better result in the hand, although you were always going to lose this hand, you may have lost the big stack with this approach (shorty was always calling).

Hand 2 - I suspect you know the answer to this. You wanted to get more money in on the turn - either a donk (which we hope he raises) or C/R all in. Against a decent player, you may lose him with the C/R line - I like a donk for $8 or so.
