Hopefully this post will spark some good debate and feedback. The villain has been playing about 50% of his hands. He limps most of them and raises here and there. Hasnt shown down a huge number of hands. Has been caught bluffing a few times. Doesnt always call raises pf when he limps, sometimes he will fold sometimes he will call.

Hero ($13.23)
SB ($11.60)
BB villain)/ ($7.87)
UTG ($12.12)

Preflop: Hero is Button with J /images/graemlins/club.gif J /images/graemlins/spade.gif
UTG calls $0.05, Hero raises to $0.25, 1 fold, BB (villain)/ calls $0.20, UTG folds.

Flop: ($0.57) 4 /images/graemlins/heart.gif 6 /images/graemlins/spade.gif T /images/graemlins/heart.gif (2 players)
villain checks, Hero bets $0.15, villain raises to $0.5, ]Hero raises to $0.85, villain raises to $7.62,

Bet more on the flop, like $.5 or so. As played, I'm honestly not sure what to tell you.

call the c/r and play poker on the turn

your play on the flop is bad.

but now at this juncture I would recommend calling if you don't mind a coinflip and folding if you are trying to play lower variance.

I'm assuming youre playing 10NL. I would raise to $0.40 pre-flop, then bet around $0.70 on the flop. I'm kinda putting him on anything from JT-AT

If he minds taking a coinflip with like 40 BBs already in the the pot, then he's playing too high.

As played, I probably fold. But I wouldn't have played it like that.

1) Bet closer to the pot on the flop. You want his money and you want him to draw for bad odds if he tries to hit an overcard, which isn't unlikely to come off. So don't make a small bet that gives him good implied odds.

2) if you reraise his c/r (which here is mostly a good idea because you made such a fishy initial bet), DON'T MINRAISE HIM! That gives him great odds to call with a flush draw that he decided to semi bluff and leaves you in an awkward spot if he pushes because of bet sizes. So reraise him to at least $2.

3) I think flat calling that c/r and bombing a safe turn isn't a bad play either.

Work on your bet sizes. Don't be scared and don't try to get too tricky either. Don't think you need to suck him in or something just because you hit an overpair with JJ...

Yeah I know that the play was pretty bad on the reraise. I should have raised more after he checkraised me. Given the play, should the all in bet get called or is this an easy laydown?

Oh sorry. No I am playing 5NL. There have been some decent action on previous hands. Thats why most of the stacks are this big.
