no offence mate but i disagree with just about everything in this thread.

against uber nits you are MOST likely to smoothcall and play your hand for set value as your implied odds ARE greater than against other players as the standard of their opening hands is higher than that of other players - but i still raise jj+.

against lagros im even more inclined to raise with 1010+ as we are further ahead of their range, have a hand that is vulnerable to a high flop, we want to build a bigger pot with out strongest hands and we have lots of FE as they will lay down a lot of their already wide range to a 3 bet oop

against calling stations i am even more inclined to raise as they could be holding any 2, CS tend to open limp then call a raise and you dont want to be playing:
1)a small pot with a premium hand
2)a multiway limped pot as kk is not a going to win 50% of the time 3 way!

(EDIT: YOURE LOOKING TO GET HU WITH PREMIUM HANDS AND SMOOTHCALLING PRE LIKE THIS PROMOTES MULTIWAY POTS AND WILL PUT YOU IN SPOTS YOU DONT WANT TO BE IN = ITS NASTY!!)

seriously man no offence meant but you really need to rethink a lot of the stuff in this thread.

if your hand is ahead of villains range pre i would advocate raising in all but the most exceptional circumstances as you want to get money in when youre ahead.

smoothcalling hands like qq against a loose aggro whos range is ax k10+ is suicide as an a/k is going to flop and youre going to be put in a lot of difficult spots. doing this once or twice as a randomiser is ok but as standard its really not cool.

But not against weak tight players raising is the best!! Thatīs plain wrong... raising is best vs. nits b/c their 3-bet calling range is way smaller than their raising range also do they play fit or fold and just are not going to donk off their whole stack to you if you flop a set... so you donīt get the right implied odds

sure man if you fancy a chat about the sort of stuff you were talkin about then hit me up on AIM or MSN.

bajames1@hotmail.co.uk

is my addy on both - i think you really need to rethink your thinking about premiums.

i really dont think the tightest players are the best ones to raise. dont get me wrong i think you should be raising all players with jj plus pre - but saying that you are more inclined to raise a 12/6 than a 40/1 with 1010 is just plain incorrect.

also playing 1010 for set value in what you anticipate to be a HU pot is much better against a 12/6 than a 40/1 (ceteris parabus) because they are more likely to hold overpairs / a good tptk hand on the flop than the CS and are thus more likely to invest more into the pot.

still my main point accross all posts - RAISE THESE HANDS UP
