Villain is 59/22/1.4. In a previous hand this happened:

Button ($51.50)
SB ($32.30)
Hero ($50.15)
UTG ($52)
MP ($89)
CO ($83.15)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 3/images/graemlins/heart.gif, A/images/graemlins/heart.gif.
1 fold, MP calls $0.50, 3 folds, Hero checks.

Flop: ($1.25) 3/images/graemlins/spade.gif, J/images/graemlins/spade.gif, 5/images/graemlins/heart.gif (2 players)
Hero checks, MP checks.

Turn: ($1.25) 4/images/graemlins/club.gif (2 players)
Hero bets $0.8, MP calls $0.80.

River: ($2.85) 5/images/graemlins/spade.gif (2 players)
Hero checks, MP bets $2, Hero calls $2.

Final Pot: $6.85

Results:
Hero has 3h Ah (two pair, fives and threes).
MP has Qd As (one pair, fives).
Outcome: Hero wins $6.85.

Probably badly played by me, I'm guessing I should've led the flop and folded the river? Does he check behind the flop with a pair or flush draw much?

Anyway, this is the main hand in question. Is it an easy river fold? I can't see him betting with a low pair, and if he was floating and wanted to bluff wouldn't he bet the turn? The only thing I can see me being ahead of is a busted straight draw.

I Fold pf, A9 is a little too weak for your position (I know its 5 handed). Id raise from CO.
Call river, villain is clearly donkish and has a wide range here including bluffs and bad 'value bets'.
I think your giving him too much credit here. Don't make the mistake of assumming all your opponents think like you do!

I would call the river. I can't put this 59/22 guy on any sort of a reliable range, and you are getting about 3:1 with top pair.

The A3s hand sort of indicates the river is Villain's street, which may provide a little additional justification for a call.

In that A3s hand, I would frequently, but not always, bet the flop (it would depend in part on how many flop bets I had been making lately). And I wrote that sentence having forgotten that you flopped a pair, so really I would nearly always bet the flop.

I guess the river probably is a fold, but I don't hate the call, since your 59/22 opponent will probably peel the turn with Ax like he did, and -- I don't know -- I've been getting the sense that sudden river bluffs are more popular in NL than in limit.

you're getting 3-1 with TP, definitely a call IMO, folding here will cost you a good amount of money in the long run

The villain seems to be pretty ridiculous, I would call.
