Villain is 41/23/1 what I have seen him reraise with has been junk

You can get away with this junk at 2cent, I'm sure it's +EV as AK, AQ, AJ, and any underpair or A7 etc, well you get the picture- they're going to stack off a lot here. Just try not to carry this habit up into $10NL where people begin to think.

yes, and I am formerly a tournament player - 2 1/2 years, which is why I am getting my feet wet at the lower levels of cash games. Am I not looking for +EV situations in cash? What is generally a more standard way to make this play?

Overbetting the pot like that is almost never a good idea. And I don't know what it's like at that level, but at 50NL with that action you are almost always behind pre-flop and therefore on the flop also.
