I don't see anything wrong with your play here. Well done!

Nah, don't really think so. He probably just tested you with that raise. If you had only called he probably would've pitched it on the river anyway.
On the other hand, if you want to have a shot at a big chunk o his stack, that turn raise is mandatory.
In fact, a flop raise would've pleased me more than that flat call.

he prob. thought you were just tryin to take a stab at the pot so he made a re-raise to try and steal the pot... if you would have just called his raise he prob would have just check/folded the river

He didn't have the 8, and I STRONGLY doubt he had an ace either.

it wasnt a donkey, and if he had a weak 8 (since it was a limped pot and he was the SB) I woulda kill all the action here right? If he has an ace He might bet again also. Since i would fold a weak 8 in this spot..

So im not talking about this hand, but more about this situation in general.

if he had any 8 he would pay you off. Unfortunately the most likely 8 is A8 so it could be you who pays him off. Better you should raise the flop.

Why is this most likely? Its the SB.

not talking about the hand, the situation in general like the man said. From the SB, I agree.

You should have raised the flop.

With 165BB stacks in a limped pot you should be raising at every single opportunity until the pot is big enough to facilitate a river push. No one is folding an 8 here, and neither should you.
