This guy was 60/40. He did have a tendency to fold after the flop though, so I was a little nervous after he called my first bet. Then when he called the turn and I saw the river I figured there was a reasonable chance I was beat. The reason I did not push on the river is that I figured he might try to bluff at me if he was on a straight draw or something.

Given your read, I c/f the turn, even though the Ace hits...

I don't know about check/folding the turn, but I'd definitely fold the river. What could he really have that you beat? Based on your read, it just doesn't seem like he'd float you with ace-high on the flop, and smaller aces are really the only conceivable hands that might bet the river that don't crush you.

Exactly, that's why I fold... if villian has air he folds on the flop, but since he called I put the villian on a set.

On the turn I think it's still decently likely that our hand is good. Even a villain who's decently tight postflop could have very easily called the flop with a 9 or a medium underpair. But when villain calls the turn, and the river double pairs the board, we're pretty much dead. Villain just isn't going to bet anything that we beat on the river.

I think you guys might be giving my read a little too much credit. Obv you gave it more credence than I did.

That's what this game is all about...reading your opponent.

Well, sure but I didn't say, "This guy always folds when he doesn't make a big hand."

Give your read, I'd say the river is a pretty easy fold.

Villain shows me A7 and I scoop the pot.
