My first orbit at the table, villain is unknown.

Party Poker
No Limit Holdem Ring game
Blinds: $0.05/$0.10
5 players
Converter (http://www.neildewhurst.com/hand-converter)

Stack sizes:
UTG: $8.50
CO: $16.95
Button: $11.99
Hero: $12.45
BB: $7.19

Pre-flop: (5 players) Hero is SB with 9/images/graemlins/spade.gif 6/images/graemlins/spade.gif
3 folds, <font color="#cc0000">Hero raises to $0.4</font>, BB calls.

Flop: 9/images/graemlins/diamond.gif A/images/graemlins/spade.gif 5/images/graemlins/heart.gif ($0.8, 2 players)
<font color="#cc0000">Hero bets $0.5</font>, BB calls.

Turn: 8/images/graemlins/club.gif ($1.8, 2 players)
<font color="#cc0000">Hero bets $0.4</font>, BB calls.

River: T/images/graemlins/diamond.gif ($2.6, 2 players)
<font color="#cc0000">Hero bets $0.4</font>

Should I have been more aggressive on the turn with my middle pair + gutshot?

How should I have played it on the river?

bet more on the flop, what kind of bet is the turn? Either PSB it or check it, with the latter being much more EV, and don't bet the river as a bluff. Please, your spewing all over

I'd probably check the turn and fold to any reasonable bet by villain. Your river bet is pointless, don't do that.
