After the flop call it looks like villain either has a jack, a set, or a middle pair. It's the turn that I don't know how to play; I think that my weakish bet was probably the worst option available. On the river I'm really not wild about the situation, but I'm getting better than 3-1, and I think that villain might be valuebetting TT/99. What's a better way to approach this hand?

Turn: bet fold is fine. But i prefer check-call.
RIVER: once u get here the way u did, i prefer a push for value.

I don't understand this. I'd be overbetting the pot, and I'd expect calls from trips/boats more often than TT/99/88. How much value is there in a river shove?

The villain only has a pot size bet left, so it's not really an overbet and if u insist it is then it's a small one. if u don't think villain will call a pot size bet than make a smaller bet and call a raise.

point being, i think villain checks behind many worse hands often and u lose value by not betting. plus i think villain raises with a better hand at some point.

Good post Paul. I've just identified this type of river situation as something I need to work on. I usually feel I have to check call here to get value, when Im allowing worse hands a free river.
