Villain is 28/6. This is his first attempt to steal blinds.

Is this a bluffing situation. The reason I ask is what hand would you raise with pre-flop, and all the way, and not just check it on the river?

Overpair.

Didn't know if you wanted crit on the hand, but I usually fold preflop, fold flop.

AA, KK or any decent over pair.

Fold the flop.

Definitely fold the turn, pot odds is giving you $3 and i dont think the implied odds justify $7

I usually fold something like this preflop too, but not this time.

On the flop I thought it could be a blind steal situation, so I waited for one more card.

The turn helped, so I looked at one more card again.

I am a 18/7 player with a winrate of 2PTBB/100

Would AA or KK raise $17 on the river?

Doesn't matter, don't get your self in those situations end of story.

Every stage was a clear fold...

This is what I did.

The only hands that make sense for him to bet $17 ON THE RIVER are a bluff, a full house or a straight. There is nobody that raises with AA, KK or any other overpair. If I did a poll on his hand and asked should I bet or check, it would come out 99% check. This is a very scary board against a big blind.

Most of the hands that make sense to bet $17 with on the River do not make sense at the beginning of the hand. Certainly he could have had a low pair, or A5, but the chances of him having this are really low.

When he bet the river like he did, I thought he didn't think he had me beat, and had to move me off a hand. It was such a crazy bet.

I Pushed all in. He had $20 left, and instantly folded.

Nice move but i still think it is a -EV one even with your read.

I believe you will lose a lot of money by making these superstar plays.

Huh? How big that sample where he never tried to steal blinds?

Prolly shoulda just folded pre-flop.

I usually do fold this preflop. The sample size was 45 hands.

I like to pick on the newer players, so that is why I stuck it out. I think I had +EV in this situation, while most others don't. Newer players make more mistakes, like the one this guy did.

I would have been content in losing the hand had he not made his bet on the river. That bet woke me up that he probably thought my hand was good enough that he had to push me off of it.

Lego, what hand would you have on the river, if you were him, that you would have bet $17. Do you think his $17 made sense?

Brian, note that there's a full ring forum for full ring hands. This one has run it's course so I will just leave it here.

If I were villian I could have a full house, quads, small possibility of a straight, and possibly overpairs, I would just about never be firing a 3rd barrel bluff.
