Is it better to make it 3xBB or 4xBB when opening?

4 plus 1BB per limper is pretty standard.

it depends.

it depends on what you want to happen later in the hand.

it depends on how large the effective stack sizes are.

it depends on your position.

it depends on how the villains will perceive and react to a 3BB raise vs a 4BB raise.

When in doubt err on the side of caution - and raise a little bigger rather than a little smaller.

Hehe, you say it depends, how does the diffrent factors influence your betting then? If you are in position, bigger or smaller bet? Etc.

Personally I like to be consistent, I always bet 4BB + 1BB per limper. But it might be a leak.

I don't think so. This way give very little information away.

I will raise to 3BB on the button, if the blinds are short stacked. Its just to control the size of the pot. Otherwise usually 4BB. Othertimes I will raise 3BB with suited connectors if i am playing at a really loose table (like 45%VPIP or higher) that are calling stations, to build a nice pot if I hit. Ofcourse I vary this so i don't become to predictable.
