I do think it's somewhat overly optimistic, but there's a reason the banking industry has made such a fuss about this legislation, and it's not because they support online gambling. There's also a provision in the UIGEA where banks can essentially say "this is just impossible to do" and not worry about it. I'm not sure of the exact verbage, and I haven't read the bill in like 8 months, but I remember something to that effect being put in there. I agree with them that ewallets are not going to be our best method for moving money around. My concerns mainly stem from the fact that sites haven't found nearly as many convenient deposit/withdraw methods as I expected. Credit cards are hit and miss at best, sites aren't really making any use of the ACH system...it's pretty much checks to withdraw and the "deposit method of the month" to deposit, whether that be moneygram, prepaid cards, etc. Maybe they're just waiting for the regulations to implement their permanent transfer methods, but moving money around right now is a pain to say the least, and it's going to need to get better soon or the money supply on sites is going to continue to dry up.

edit: Bill Rini is right on some of those counts, but the ACH/EFT stuff is wrong, I think he's underestimating the economic benefits of sites for offering games in the U.S., and finally the skill debate is far from over, so he's definitely jumping the gun there (remember, everyone who's a morbid pessimist claims they're a realist and everyone else is delusional.) The third article you posted is so old I don't really think it's relevant anymore.

I still haven't seen anything that confirms this. Link?
