Meh, I usually just call the turn bet, I'm not sure which is best.

i raise this turn bet often. villain's range is wide; he can be doing this w/any draw and he may have picked up a fd on the turn. raise it up

If I were to call, given the sizes of his stack and the pot, would you call a push on most rivers?

(I should add that before the flop action I hesitated a long time before betting, being busy with other tables, and I thought that villain might well have interpreted that as weakness.)

i like to keep the pot small on paired boards when villain shows aggression.. show down cheaply, your turn raise isnt being called by hands that you beat

I don't believe that that's always true, and that's not always the most important consideration.
