I'm not really comfortable playing medium sized pocket pairs out of position, how should I have played this hand?
I guess it would be something like this:
Bet more pre, bet about pot on the flop, push on safe turn against shortstack, check/fold on bad turn? What if the big stack would have called on the flop also, and a safe card hit on the turn?

raise more preflop, 4xbb + 1/limper

i generally b/f the turn, if i checked i think id call this small bet and consider calling a non spade/A river. ALso a read helps a lot in these spots.
