This board is too coordnated to slow play IMO. Id bet about $2 on flop then definately bet turn. Your c/r on the turn is also too small. With the 9 hittin on the river id c/c a small bet. IMO the fold on the river isnt the problem here its your entire line.

I agree. even on a staggered board, i still don't prefer to slowplay my set against just one opponent. In this situation, you MUST apply pressure, because if you dont build a pot, he'll build one with a better hand than yours.

Bet out the flop. You were the PF raiser and it's expected of you to cbet as you cbet almost every flop after being the PF raiser (hopefully). Then pot the turn. This will actually be a significant amount then because you will have built the pot.

He will be less likely to bluff with this line and you make your river decision easier.

I'd be willing to felt this on the turn against an unknown FWIW.

Your line is terrible, c/c and then c/r on the turn is the donk's standard line for a monster. Just BET the flop BET the turn and then you'll have a much better idea about villains range on the river.

yeh this is a fold. was this a blocker/thin value bet on the river?

I only play 6 max, but I assume this would be even more of a fold in FR.

thanks everyone for the comments, i feel i've really learned something. I can totally see the benefit of raising the flop here instead of just calling, I can now see that i put myself in that situation instead of just thinking that my opponent got lucky. I guess I underestimated my opponent and just tried to trap him and i ended up trapping myself.

I apprecicate the input, i will not let this happen again. (I hope)

Grunch....

Bet the pot on that flop. It'll make your other decisions easier.

plz explain ur thinking more, ppl who pot flops like that always confuse the crap out of me.

Whole hand is ugly, you don't check raise enough on the turn, you check call a super-weak bet on the flop, and then try to make a thin valuebet on the river. Yuck.

Hero has a set. I think it's best to bet strong here, given the texture of the flop and it's better to find out where you are in the hand while it's still cheap. If villain calls, the turn isn't that much scarier and if villain is on a draw - which I think he is - it's best to charge him the maximium (by betting pot again) to get there.
