I bet $1 on the river in a heartbeat. He could have a lot of small-mid pocket pairs or a 9.

I think this is a leak for me. I'm gonna work on this sort of thing. I think checking the turn here is good since a lot of the hands that call a cbet here are ahead of me after the turn. The river check kind of confused me. After he mucked 89o the whole hand made sense to me. At the time of the hand I think I was concerned he might have a slowplayed 5 and could have been afraid of the flush but that makes no sense either since he should have value bet a 5 after I checked the turn.

I check to many rivers where I'm good.

i think a value bet is good here. he would lead the river w/ a 5 or an A.

I would keep the pot small, like you did with the turn, which I like. However, we're ahead of his range here, and unless he's slowplaying a monster, we have the best hand here. With him checking the turn and river, it's unlikely he has a small ace.

I'd valuebet about half the pot here. If I'm c/raised, I'm obviously done with the hand.
