Hi,

Villain is a MANIC, stole my top pair pot with a raise earlier and showed air, please comment on play. I was pot-committed when he re-raised me so had to call, but was the rest of the play ok?

Thanks

well played op, I'd be lovong the raise on the river if i were you, obv. shouldn't fold. I think you should be more on the turn and river though, overbetting will be good against this guy (or generally at 5nl) these bet sizes are alright too though

If he's that much of a maniac I'd just c/c flop and try to keep the pot manageable. Other than that, I like.

You are good there most of the time. Everything was fine.

Ok thanks - as I clicked call all in, I had visions of trips being turned over, but nice mr manic was up to his usual tricks putting $12 into a $6NL game with a pair of 4s.

Thanks for the advice - will consider not c-betting next time.

i don't mind checking this flop, but against this guy you can bet AQ high for value.

Nothing wrong with a c-bet there vs. 1 opponent when you have two overs. On the turn you hit TPTK, so fire again. On the river your hand becomes great, so fire again.

Just to clarify my previous post, I agree with the quote above.

If you bet, you have to be able to go all the way with the hand. If you're not, you should check and keep the pot manageable. But betting and folding to a raise against a maniac is almost always a bad play. So you need to know how you're going to respond to a raise before you put that first bet in.
