Now that you mere mortals have had the chance to drool at just the thought of my gargantuan e-penis, I serve you the main course:

Chances of flopping a set: 1 in 8.5
Chances of losing with that set: 18%

Lets say we need to call "1" and we need to win "Z":

0 = 1/8.5 x (.82 x Z - .18 x Z) - 7.5/8.5

7.5 = 0.64 x Z

11.7 = Z

Yeah yeah, except that all you win 3/4 times you flop a set is a cbet.

No. That's 8/1 or something.

Read Dan Bitel's thread above...it is an eye-opener.

100 / 8.5 = 11.76. I always heard it`s 1 in 8.5 to hit your set on flop.

I think that is a coincidence. The point is that while you flop a set 1 in 8.5 you need to expect a post-flop win of at least 11.7 times your pre-flop call to break even. This accounts for the times you lose with a set. If a set was automatically the nuts it would be 8.5.
