i play 10$nl and my cbets are called well over 50% of the time. i usually bet around 3/4 pot. the worst part is that i rarely cbet as is, so should i just stop altogether unless i have a hand?

bluffing loose players doesnt work. just play for value and they'll pay you off when you hit.

If they dont fold don't bluff.

You will eventually make atleast a pair against them. Which is most likely good since (if what you say is true) they dont fold.

Value bet them - bet enough for them to call and extract maximum value from your made hands.

Against loose/passive players, don't bluff but bet for value with more hands. This can include a whiffed AK high in a headsup pot when checked to, against some opponents.

Against loose/aggressive players, you can bluff with some small frequency, but only build big pots with hands you're willing to felt (this should be a wider range than normal)

Against tight/passive players, BLUFF BLUFF BLUFF but don't bet for value with as many hands. If you flop top pair bad kicker and get called, shut down.

Against tight/aggressive players, avoid getting into pots with them at these stakes, because they're probably fellow 2+2ers and it won't have much expectation involved. Just play poker, the counterstrategy is too complex to be summarized in a paragraph

...and you keep on betting, he will keep calling and you will lose money.

it takes patience to keep folding and leaving dead money out there but remember, he always calls so wait for a hand and then start betting. this is how you play for value.

so with a whiffed ak in position against a loose player who calls a cbet on the flop and then leads on the turn is an automatic fold?

Say you ran a scenario for 100 hands where you had $1 flop HU and you cbet .75 everytime. Your opponent calls you 65% of the time and folds 35%. Each time your opponent calls you give up on the hand. So 35 times out of 100 you take it down and net $35. Though 65 times out of a hundred you give up on the hand and lose $48.75(65 x .75) for a net loss of $13.75. This doesnt take into account the times you have the best hand and fire again on the turn which I think is roughly 36% of the time. You will also sometimes get called and improve on the turn and make more money there. You will also get a lot of free cards when checked to on the turn and you check behind to improve on the river. Out of 100 hands expect to occasionally win a pot or 2 unimproved. Use your reads to save bets by checking flops that your opponent most likely hit and you'll find that even at the fishiest tables frequently cbetting is very profitable.

It makes you difficult to play against, and helps you get action on your monsters.

AK is not a hand. AK is Ace King high, it's nothing unless you hit the board.
Your opponent has a pair, you have AK high, yes you should fold. Stop getting attached to pretty hands (especially when it's just high card).
When the board is J/images/graemlins/heart.gifT/images/graemlins/heart.gif9/images/graemlins/heart.gif8/images/graemlins/heart.gif2/images/graemlins/spade.gif it doesn't matter if you have A/images/graemlins/spade.gifA/images/graemlins/club.gif, you're going to be folding.

Cbet less against calling stations and bet your made hands (not Ace high) for value.
