Checking the flop is fine. But it's not with the intention of folding the hand later.

You have to put your money in, whether you want to do that now or wait until the turn. The pot is too big to exercise pot control or give up entirely.

Shove.
SB could have PP or suited connectors looking to stack MP.
MP could have QQ+, AK, even AQ/JJ if he gives you no credit (you don't mention your image).
If you're contemplating folding here, I don't know why you're 3betting AK (if it's just to get him to fold, then you could be doing it with ATC.)

I assume SB is the TAG? Any reads on MP? Either way, a TAG calling a 3-bet cold is probably indicative of a strong hand. That said, however, against a range of TT+, AK, you're way ahead. Checking here to induce more action from QQ/JJ type hands or to try and get value from whatever MP holds is fine, but I'd usually bet, since I rarely check after 3-betting and thus a check would look suspicious to a thinking TAG.

Edit: Also, reload prehand. Even at 100 BBs I'm stacking off here every time, at 80 BBs it's a no brainer on this flop.

also...why do you play ak if you dont want to hit the a or k? and if you're behind, then the hand wouldn't have played so smoothly until now...if he is abc tag...he woulda 4bet with aa-kk, no?

I'd bet 8 here and call a push. The tag could have a PP here or SC's.

whatever you do, just don't fold and try to get all money in now or on the turn. You have the monster! this is dream flop for AK.

thats the exact amount I bet.......

The reason why I dont like my hand anymore is because a straight up abc tag cold called OOP. I immediately put him on a big pocket pair..

the rest went check check bet 8 min raise call all in..... NEXT!

I've seen tags call here with lower PP's and sc's to stack though also. You can't put him on just big pairs.

Umm...what am I missing here?

You 3bet and he calls. You hit your hand. When in a 3bet pot, you're not looking to play pot control, you're looking to win a big pot. You hit your hand so bet it and call a push. Multiway, you have to bet here. Heads up, you could check, but you have to be looking to get it all in here regardless.

SB's cc is more than likely a mid-pair going farming on you. I wouldn't worry about it being less than 100BB's deep.

You have to be willing to play for stacks if you 3-bet and hit the flop.
