View Full Version : **Official uNL is this standard thread**

Im just doing it now. Here is the idea from another thread:

Here it goes,

its obvious that uNL and SSNL are the most frequented forums of 2+2. I myself find that I often dont post hands cause I think that the hand isnt interesting enough to make a new thread. Or for example, I get coolered and I just want to be really sure that it actually WAS a cooler and not bad play.

The more you play the more changes your style and your idea of the game. Things that were completely standard when you started playing are now big NO NOs and the other way round.

So especially with coolers, bad beats etc. Id find it helpful to be able to post them anyway. Even if all the responses will say "standard" and that is it.

So how about we have ONE thread where you post the hhs with a FEW comments and people may respond with

EITHER "standard/nh"
OR "discussion worthy"

rules would obviously be:

ABSOLUTELY no spam
ONLY post if you DISAGREE (so no need for 10x nh)

but that way we could have many many rather "uninteresting" hands in one thread and only those which are "discussionworthy" will be released in to the uNL forum (posted again, in its own thread).

Thanks to HRA146 for the idea. PM me for a title when you see this.

People commenting on a hand will have to quote it every time which will kinda clutter the thread, just for one liner comments...

Why dont we start threads for single hands, two threads, 100nl and 200nl, just for a "how's my line"

SSNL threads that are started hve to be about a complicated hand/multiple hands. We could also compile an FAQ of basic "how's my line hands" put it in the FAQ so ppl ask less questions and read more

okay, its not like I knew you said something like that and/or stole that idea to make myself look good in uNL.

The point of this thread is a little different though, its supposed to be a continuous one for hands that appear super standard, but people still like feedback. So if its really standard we move on, and if its not then people post it again in the forum.

What did you expect to accomplish by minraising? When he pushes you must call. I would have folded to the first raise.

lol, yeah it looks grim actually.

It's just that I've become paranoid recently that every flop raise is just a test of my cbet, especially on boards that clearly will have missed a lot of my range.

This has led me to start c/r whiffed flops and cb/3betting a lot of them too (as opposed to just cbetting). But this was just obviously the wrong spot to try this, although I have noticed a lot of people taking on cbets at 50NL in a way that used not happen so I'm still gonna try to take on villains I think are being cheeky.

Villain unknown.

Would a proper flop 3b to $18 have made any difference? I consider this is probably a slightly ahead/WB situation, so while I want some value, I don't want to pot commit. Also,as there aren't draws I'm willing to spend half a stack protecting against, I made a smaller flop 3b.

Clueless here lol.

Double barrels are always villain dependent but this is a good spot to try one out. Maybe pot it though given flop texture.

i think this is a good board for a double barrel, it seems that not many people float the flop with a king and often they will give you credit for one

If villain is a TAG with a fold button then I like the second barrel but 0evg0 I think that your logic prevails against the majority of 50NLers. I think betting a bit more gets more FE against that range, but an unknown isn't folding anything but like 77-88 in that range to a 2/3 pot bet.

Is this standard? I feel like this has been happening way too much this week. Everyday I for the last five days I have seen my opponents flop a flush. I felt sick calling but I figured I beat the two pairs and one pairs and only behind to pocket fours or a flopped flush due to preflop action.

I'd just 3b push flop to villain's rr, but generally getting it in here is standard and you were unlucky to run into the flopped flush. I'd also raise pf, although I don't know how these stakes play tbh.

Piet - I think a big J is by far the least likely possibility here once he bets. He's checkng a big J behind surely. Even air is a bigger part of his range than a big J IMO, along with boats and flushes.

Since the Big J/air are the only hands you are beating in his likely range of {Jx, Flush, Boat, Air} and the J/air are the least likely holdings, I think this is a fold. I should say though that at the table I will make a mistake here by calling an awful lot.

Wilder:
1) I play it the same and think it is standard.
2) I never raise river here, but being a nit maybe I am losing value by not doing so. But even allowing for that, I doubt a river raise is standard.
3) That pf raise isn't standard for most, although I am sure it is for some here. I also think it's kinda spewy thereafter and probably not standard either.

pf is fine

flop is fine, but throw in a check sometimes

turn i raise to 9, but just call sometimes too (even more often than i'll check back flop)

Villain is 41/11/2.3 and hasn't really done anything dumb. Is this where a blocking bet would serve a good purpose? I was going to call a river bet depending on the size. Obv didn't work out for me. Also, I realized that my bet sizing is off from the conventional due to relying on a script. /images/graemlins/frown.gif

Postflop is standard to me.
I dont like raising 67o in the CO in this particular spot though.
Because:
a) You have a very loose villain in the blinds
b) who happens to be short.

With tight blinds and/or deeper stacks - sure, standard.

Genz

Preflop is borderline since it can get very nasty easily when BTN calls. I reserve offsuit connectors for button raises. But then I would even raise a limper in MP or CO. But I really don't want to be called in position.
I just flat call the minbet on the turn since I'm not fond of my kicker and these people just don't fold and I want to see a SD. If he wants to price himself in for a draw, he can do it. I won't pay him off, anyway. River is standard.

@Chomp: yea don't fold the flop, you probably have loads of outs with the NFD and 2 overs. Was he raising cbets a lot and folding when someone 3bet, if so then just push the flop. I might just push the flop anyway because its good for your image, you have FE, and if called you get to see 2 streets with lots of outs. Obv cbet there.

How does this line fare against:
1) an unknown at 25NL
2) a known LAG/donk
3) a known nit
4) a known TAG/good player
5) a known station/fish

My thoughts:
1) meh
2) great
3) fold to flop raise
4) undecided, but I'd lead toward just calling the raise
5) great

Basically, is this line ever folding out anything I beat? How often are players calling with something worse?
What I beat that might call:
worse 2pair
naked flush draws
overpair+fd
overpair no FD
pair+FD

What beats me that is almost certainly calling:
sets and flushes

You are drawing at the bottom end of the straight and to the lowest possible flush. With the overcall, your fold equity is debatable. Maybe I take a card off, but I usually do not try to push two opponents out of a hand like this.

Preflop: raise or fold. AJo doesn't play well oop. If you think CO will raise with a wide range here, 3bet him to take control of the hand.
Flop: Good idea but dangerous with the flushdraw on the board. Raise more. Make it 0.9-1
Turn: bet more. The board is becoming very wet even though you probably have the best hand.
River: I make the call here although villain played his hand like a drawing hand.
