I always have trouble playing AK, I know its a good hand but I just can't force myself to get my money in the pot. So this hand I bet out PF more than I usually would since people are always telling me to do so.

Reads on Villan are 12, 12, 2, 25. I was really stumped on on the flop since I could put him on KQ so I bet a smallish amount but big enough to scare away someone if they didn't make a hand.

I thought he'd re-raise me if he had KQ so on the turn I bet the biggest amount I thought he'd call.

And then with the jack coming out...I dunno, so I just checked, not sure if I should have bet again here.

First of all: don't put the villian on a hand, put him on a range of hands. This range should include everything he would call with preflop. This would include hands that made bottom pair, or an open ended straight draw on the flop. When he calls your flop bet, you can narrow his range down.

When you know he could have a flushdraw or some kind of other draw, bet more so he doesn't get correct odds to draw to his flush / straight. Also, bet more on the flopt/turn, if he calls a small bet, he'll probably also call a larger bet (if he doesn't have a draw). More money in the pot == more profit.

Checking one street is always a good thing for pot control with a one pair hand, but bet more on the other streets if you want to win something?

I bet .6 on flop, 2/3 pot on turn and prolly half pot on river. As HugovB mentioned checking the flop/turn for pot control can be good but I wouldn't do it on a board this drawy.
