View Full Version : Andy Beal best player ever? (+10 million in 3 days!)

Has Beal now solidified his spot as the best poker player ever? Has there ever been another poker player that was able to take on a team of the best poker players in the world and take them for $10 million in just a few days? That is an incredible achievement.

I hope the corporation has the stones for a re-match. They appear to be badly out-classed by Andy, but maybe they can make it 4 days before giving up the ghost next time.

For anyone who hasn't seen it, here are the results from a post at the Bluff forum:

I'm surprised that no one has reported the real results yet. But that is probably because the pros lost.

I have the very inside track on all the play, and here are the results:

Day 1 Andy vs. Jennifer = Andy +$5 million

Day 2 Andy vs. Todd = Andy +$1.5 million

Day 3 Andy vs. Ted = Andy =+$3.5 million

Game Over. Pros lose $10 million. Andy heading home. Pros tail between their legs.

So he got some of his money back. How does winning 100BB HU make him the best of all time? Its all about the long run in poker. I'm impressed and happy for Andy, but what's with your hard-on for him?

Winning 100 BB in a game this volatile doesn't even qualify someone as a winning poker player, let alone the best ever.

Most likely, Andy Beal is an expert HU LHE player but not much beyond that although I'm certainly not qualified to say.

If fellas like Schneids, Guifre, Obi, James, JV, Nomar and Josh are up for it, I'd kick in 100k or so to the cause to take him on. I know it might not be enough to get him too interested, but, frankly, I like our odds.

Not only are they not even close to the best HU LHE players in the world, they might not even be that good.

I wonder how many hands Ted Forrest has lifetime at HU.

The other comments on his bankroll are mere speculation. But according to the same source who confirmed that Beal is not a poker player, his bankroll may be $1 million or more.

Augie, I've read a couple of articles in some respectable periodicals saying that Ted is a solid cash game player but it doesn't speak directly to his HU skills. I would like to think that Ted has to be decent or he wouldn't be part of the team assembled to play Andy Beal. Just my opinion. BTW, I miss your old avatar.

/images/graemlins/frown.gif sorry. I will change it again but I do not want to bring out the cracked out homeless man just yet. I had him for over two years. It is still on stars tho, so just search for augie99 sometime and maybe I will be playing there!!

so a really smart man who has probably devoted more time and effort at heads up limit texas holdem than all but a handful of people in the past several years wins 100 bets off a bunch of top pros over 3 days who he is still down to overall lifetime and is suddenly the best poker player in the world?

is there any doubt who would win these HU matches if they included another game in the mix?

no doubt though andy beal is a great hu lhe player though. i think he has proven that. but it is a big stretch to assume anything about his poker skills (like claiming he is the best player ever) just based on this.
