I thought i played the hand well. I wanted the pot preflop and no reads on the button. Was i right reraising the the small pair or just called to try to hit the set. What can you put villain on here?

NL 25 6max

Preflop hero in SB has 35.65
Villain is the button with 20.60

preflop: Hero in the SB with 6 /images/graemlins/heart.gif6 /images/graemlins/club.gif
All fold to the villain on the button who raises to 1.00
SB reraises to 3.00 Button calls 2.00

FLOP: 6 /images/graemlins/spade.gif7 /images/graemlins/spade.gifk /images/graemlins/club.gif
Hero bets 4.00 Button calls 4.00

TURN: 3 /images/graemlins/club.gif
Hero bets 14.00 button calls and is all in 13.60

Do you have reads? My default play is to call and then see what the flop looks like.

No stats on the villian but he could be raising with a wide range of hands here, most of which you are slightly ahead of. I think it's a good raise because it shows that a PF reraise from you doesn't always mean AA or KK. Against a very tight vilian it's not a good move but against everyone else I like it.

I never RR unknowns light pf, but i guess it worked out here.

Typically I just call here but re-raising is not necessarily bad.

How do you proceed on a non 6 flop? Do you give it up after a c-bet on most boards if the opp calls your flop or turn bet? If not you are getting into dangerous (that is, out of position, negative EV) waters vs. unknowns.

RESULTS:

Unfortunately for me villain had a set of sevens.

I wouldve give it up after i c bet and got called. I just wanted him to fold Preflop.

Why did you want him to fold preflop? Wouldn't you want to gamble with the 20-1 odds of taking his stack?

I just didnt care for the situation of being out of position with a small pair if i didnt hit the set.
