I would have folded that too. Clear decision.

Not betting the turn would be a lot better

Why bet the turn? Any straight/flush are calling, worse hands are folding.

Yep, check the turn. After your bet it's easy for him to shove. If you check the turn, he might make an error in betting an amount that gives you the odds to call. You have 10 outs and you stack him every time the board pairs.

I still think there might be a case to be made for calling, if the turn bet had been pot-sized. Are you sure if it's a straight or a flush? What's wrong with him hitting a set of sevens and trying to scare you off of a pot? Aren't the 6 and the Jack of spades your gin cards? You've got twelve probable outs to beat a flush or straight.

Calling here is really bad

The turn card completes so many draws. I would like to see a showdown in this spot playing out of position with a set and a straight flush draw. I would check the turn but as played fold to the all in raise.

10 outs to the full house or 4 of a kind + 2 outs for the straight flush.

If we check turn many villians will bet with any 2. I think a turn bet is the cheapest way to find out if we are beat.

Edit: didn't think of our outs here. Maybe c/c a reasonable bet is better. C/f to an overbet, though.

yes but we can call the turn for the same price as betting the turn, and calling gives us the advantage of seeing a river card.

[/ QUOTE ] yeah this isn't very hard. when people talk about folding sets they mean on not so dangerous boards. again, not amazing = nobody cares.

check / call any pot sized bet on the turn, and get it all in if the board pairs on the river (obviously).
