Villain is effectively an unknown, though he seemed to have a small PFR.

I think this comes down to whether or not you think he has the king.

Any thoughts on why you would confidently call?

Isn't this a slowplayed set as often as AJ+? I fold.

I think this is a fold. He could even have TT.

I don't think he expects you to fold so you should.

I think its a slowplayed set more often. getting 1:1 on ur money u need to be ahead more than 50% of the time and without a read i think we need to fold.

I hate these spots. If I fold villain proudly flips over A7, and I can just imagine his big fat dumb grin. If I call he shows 8s full, and I can just imagine his big fat dumb grin.

Folding pre to an UTG raise OOP aint that bad, but if you play this Id rather 3-bet pre. What was your thinking on the flop? Check raise or check-call? Check calling is bad, DUCY? The turn bet is fine but if he calls he either has a draw or TT. I wont put him on AK because he wont check behind on the flop with the flushdraw and he would probably raise on the turn.

So you should check-call on the river always. Better hands will raise, worse hands (like flushdraws) will fold.

As played this is an clear fold, nothing in his range do you beat imho. I also think the river bet is a bit high.
