okay, no hand history, deal with it /images/graemlins/cool.gif

everybody is 100 BB deep

hero is on button with 77, folded to me, i open raise to 4bb
sb Calls, BB 3bets it to 12bb, hero calls, sb calls

flop ~35bb
A/images/graemlins/spade.gif Q/images/graemlins/heart.gif7/images/graemlins/heart.gif
sb checks, bb checks, hero bets 25BB, sb Calls, bb folds

turn ~ 80bb hero and villain have just under a pot sized bet left (~65bb)

how important is it toget value out of some sort of Ace and protect hand from awkward river vs the value of avoiding getting pot committed against a flush (3 bet pf would have given the sb an iffy, but not terrible call with a suited connector of sorts.)

true enough, but if stack sizes were not this awkward, we would check this turn behind. although if we check this behind then we are still calling a push on a blank river as you mentioned, and without betting we could get into some bad 4 flush spots...
