I called down villian fairly light on this hand on flop and turn. When we got to the river and villian checked, i saw a chance to bluff my opponent in the case that he had been holding a weakish queen. Is this a horrible or ok situation to bluff. Thanks for your input. BTW, opponent was on the aggressive side.

I don't think its that bad, villain might have had air and was firing a double barrel bet, when you called twice on pretty dry boards he might have put you on a possible set or weaker TP and might have decided to check call river, or just given up trying to bluff you out.

You didnt really define you or your oppenents hand anywhere in the hand. As such it is though to give you advice for the hand.

I would have 3-bet the flop for one, and then I would see what happens. Check calling with 10's on almost any board is dangerous. Half the time theres overs to the 10 and you have to worry about the opp having that over, and the other half there is a low flop and you have to worry about the opp having JJ-AA.

Now, the way you played the hand in position is pretty weak. As such its not totally off for a villian to be double barreling you. What this means is that your hand has showdown value. The fact that he gave up on the river means he probebley is not paying off a bet on the end by you, and your probebley a winner. I don't think a river by you gets him off any Q that he bets like that, so your ahead of everything except maybe JJ, just take the free check and scoop the pot.

My brain ain't wired to read unconverted hands.

raise preflop to about $5. I'd have folded the turn, I would expect he's holding A Q. The fact that he checked the river seems to suggest the K scared him a bit, or he thought you be holding a set, but the bluff still wasn't great. I certainly wouldn't do it unless I'd seen him lay down on the river before. I doubt he was firing with nothing as they were pretty substantial bets, so he's probably holding something decent enough and will be reluctant to lay it down.

Also, to a decent player your bet looked like a bluff. If you were holding a K you prob would have been happy to check it seeing as the pot was big enough already, and if you had a set and knew you were ahead yuou prob wouldn't have bet as much if you wanted to be called. It looks like you're trying to scare him off

Ouch. There should be a policy on the forum prohibint new posters from giving advice until they have a few hands posted themselves or been on the forum for a while /images/graemlins/smile.gif

If ur gonna float the flop would it be better to raise the turn to 24? I think he check calls the river w/ tp here but might think about folding to a turn raise and big river bet. we'd basicly be turning our hand into a bluff though. We also need to know he's able to fold top pair.

Im probly guilty of playing to passive too and just calling here pf too lol.
