FGators
04-12-2007, 10:03 PM
How are you guys doing? Haven't seriously talked in a while. I've been doing great, only on suicide watch on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays,Fridays, and Saturdays, and Sundays. My funeral will be Janurary 3rd or 4th (depending on the availability of the funeral home) after I get Supernova Elite for the year. All are welcome. I'd like Nath as one of the guys to carry my coffin. He has been blessed with good hands.

These hands are as they were played. I have no need to change the hand histories, as we know. There are some good plays, some bad plays, etc.

EDIT: there are all hands I've played today (Thursday April 12th) that are over $100 or right near it. There are those that say it's not about just the big pots so these are all the significant ones I've played up until this point.

Enjoy, and as always, best wishes at the table because there is no good "luck" in poker.

FGators.

I'm just giving raw versions of all pots I lose that are either medium or large. People take cheap shots at me constantly here about being awful so here it is. This is how I play. Should I be playing these differently? I'm not so sure. I guess I should just muck pocket tens on the button when Im raised by an aggressive blind.

P.S.: the crabclaws hand is bad but hes aggressive as hell and I thought I would try slowplaying for once.

I have no plan for blank flops and I hate putting basically half my stack in by calling the raise and calling the flop bet when he bets because hes always firing the flop after he 3bets.

lol @ all the hate, FGators knows how to play poker, and is a decent player, but just not THAT good.
probably somewhere in the 50th percentile of 2P2ers, and a very small winner in the Stars NL $200 game.

This is true but misleading. He thinks he should have won 500K by now. If you count NL200 as MSNL, out of all internet MSNL/HSNL pros/semipros he is in the bottom 1%. This is the group he is trying to identify with and so this is how we should judge him.

I have heard about fgators in some other threads so I read the first bunch of hands and I thought it was a joke post. But I do like that you declare your bets in the chatbox first, that's a nice touch.

FGators is horrible lets not kid ourselves, i do love how he post these atrocities then sits here trying to defend every neg post.

look man, i know NL hold them awards bold and aggressive play but there is a concept you need to read up on "pot control" i think it will help you a lot.

also look into "calling for set value"

You aren't terrible you're probably a break even/ marginal winner at 200nl but you definetely have leaks. You never seem to listen to anyone's advice but I would recommend finding a few players who are better than you asking them about hands and listening to their advice it will help a ton.

okay there is obviously some bandwagon behaviour involved in this thread. After reading through the responses first, i was thinking wow how bad must these hh's be.

In my judgement, there are several hhs i think definitely could be played a lot better. The TT obviously is gross. But that said, i think i agree with the assesment that op probably is a small winner at this limit, a mediocre player that nonetheless could use a lot of improvement. However, he isn't the total fish a lot of people make him out to be. I've seen a lot lot worse, and see a lot lot worse everyday

edit: tips to op. Learn to CBet better on the right textures and from the right position, try to improve on potcontrol with far-from-thenuts-hands

One time I was bored and sat to FGators left at his downiestakes with the intention of reraising him every time he raised, maybe just shoving a few times or calling and shoving flops etc, but he brilliantly countered my plan by not playing a hand for 4 orbits, so I left feeling pretty outplayed. Keep at it FGators, it'll break even eventually.

Those can't be all the pots you played over $100 bc you had a few deeper stacks (one was 650 I think). Stop filtering through all the hands you lost and posting them. I don't know how many hands a day you play but when you play as many as you do anyone can find a dozen or so "bad beats."

Obviously some of them were bad plays not bad beats, but posting all these hands proves nothing about how bad/good you are running.

Post the two hands from the day before (Wed April 11) where you had your KK beat my AA (I think one was a 180BB pot and the other was 260BB?). You don't run that bad...

Everyone is not saying you play bad because you are getting your money in good everytime. Every bad player out there deludes themselves with this type of "poker is rigged" / "my luck is so bad" thinking. You might want to listen, learn, and improve instead of blaming it on bad luck, trying to justify your bad playing, and complaining.

This is true but misleading. He thinks he should have won 500K by now. If you count NL200 as MSNL, out of all internet MSNL/HSNL pros/semipros he is in the bottom 1%. This is the group he is trying to identify with and so this is how we should judge him.

4betting is probably +ev here but its far from optimal. JJ+ isn't going to fold and all the bad hands he three bets with will. There is a lot more value in calling then 4betting.

Your flop raise is terrible here. Either call or make it like 85 to go. By making this small flop raise you basically guarantee that you'll stack off. but you also let him chase. If I make that small flop raise I check the turn on this board your beat a lot.

Fold the flop your draw is bad. You don't get paid off on a 9 and there is a flush draw out there. As played the river bet is pretty bad I don't think your getting folds often.

what i don't get is where you even get enough money to play 1/2 Nl seems like u would be unable to keep enough $ to play this high. i guess maybe u r not this bad all the time prob.

Ya I'm completely aware of this. Fgators right now is probably a marginal winner at 200nl but he could be way better if he listened to advice people gave him.

Well.. two points:

1) He's not that bad.
2) Tons and tons and tons of 2p2ers are really really bad at poker.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'll add a few more things:
1) that you may not know who these opponents are: many of the people he's stacking off light against are complete droolers and would stack with 2nd pair.
2) I was surprised to see that many people in this thread are on my freaking buddy list. Some of the 'winners' on this thread that I see have notes such as "any 2 s00ted cards, even HU. 8d2d", "Broke w/ TPNK", "peels for gutshot/set".
3) Gators is one of the more solid players I've seen at this level. I have him at a nice 6ptbb/100 over a 3.5K sample. Not a huge sample obviously, but it's yet another piece of evidence pointing in a certain direction.

But I apologize for ruining your fun. Resuming current programming... now:

Gators, your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries.

I play the 1/2 6 max a lot as well and run into him a ton (I 8-10 table and he's usually on 2 or so).

He probably doesn't fair too well against the regulars bc everyone knows who he is and knows more about him than the average regular bc a) he makes these posts and is an attention whore and b) he plays so damn much so ppl naturally can pick up on his tendancies.

However he does have a bunch of deep stacks quite often bc the average fish/recreational player will pay him off. (Plus he stacks my AA with his KK, j/k I'm not salty)

/end rant
/begin insult again

FWIW, I am extremely lazy at picking up on people's tendancies unless I notice they are 2p2 (even then I don't pay attention much). This is prolly the reason I still play 1/2NL, but of all the people I run into I'd say I have the best feel for how Fgators plays than anyone else I play against.

FGators.

I didnt want to talk strategy and show my ignorance (i never claimed to be that good), but comon FGators, how can you play a hand this badly?

Just because you dont have a K, doesnt mean your opponant does. And with a pot of 220 on the flop im willing to view his $2 as a fancy check and find out if he has it and how much he likes it.

And as has already been pointed out 99% of the hands are standard or misplayed on one or more streets.

Eagles,

3 1/2 hours ago with that hand you said:

[ QUOTE ]
This is a really [censored] spot I have no idea.I think I call down because your getting such a good price but I really don't know.

[/ QUOTE ]

Id rather raise this flop then shutdown than call down.

By calling you are telling villain you didnt like the flop letting him control the hand here on in.

Fwiw, i would call the raise to 20 preflop there instead of putting in that extra bet so wouldnt put myself in this situation of a big pot and a strong 2nd pair. Which im sure will also be hated on.

As it happens looking over the stacks that hand really does suck. Id rather raise to 65 than call the 2, but the pot is huge from the preflop raise. Urgh, calling down sucks too.

The trouble with calling the flop minbet is villain will bet any turn with pretty much any two - and you will be bluffed off a big pot a lot more often than folding to a K.

Urgh, i dunno. I guess ive shown my ignorance...

Head in sand, end strategy in BBV. Fgators, any chance of cross posting that hand to SSNL and get a response on it in the correct forum.

Holy [censored]... can I play the average 2p2er HU for rolls please? How the [censored] has nobody figured this out.

Let's go through the decisions in the hand and see if we can find the mistake:

1) Raise QQ to 4 BB preflop.
2) 4-bet half your stack.
3) Call a minbet getting 100:1 when raising anything meaningful folds out all worse hands and gets called by all better hands.
4) Fold QQ postflop getting 5:1 when our opponent has us beat 100% of the time.

Clearly the mistake in the hand is where he calls the minbet. I mean.. that's just insane. He should've shoved to see where he's at.. or just folded because he's getting sick reverse implied odds on his two outs when his opponent's got KKK.

Phil,
Raising the flop is really really bad.
Any play which people justify by betting to see where you are is usually misplayed.
Betting to see where you are allows worse hands to fold and better hands to call/raise.
FWIW I think I barf and call the turn, because you don't need to be good that often.

kemystery
04-13-2007, 09:57 PM
this thread is apparently evidence of the contrary

[Phill]
04-13-2007, 10:01 PM
Pudge (thanks btw),

If villain checks, do you shove/commit yourself or check behind?

Yeah, on reflection i hate raising the flop due to the size of the pot developed preflop and its relation to the stacks.

Fwiw, this is why i dont like to build too much preflop even though im not an amazing post flop player. I mean there are 4 betting rounds and no rule against using as many as possible.

no, you really don't play 'exactly like them'. and as I've told you before, it has nothing to do with being unlucky. you have fundamental leaks and you have *never*, in all the time you've asked me for anything, had a plan for how to play a hand over multiple streets in the future. you do things because you're supposed to do them, but you don't understand why you're supposed to, and until you get that you will never be good at poker.

but you don't get what I'm saying and you think it's all BS, so go ahead and keep 12 tabling for 0.5BB/100 with a standard deviation of 15/100 while not getting any better ever. good luck with that.

This would make sense.

It has always been odd to me that FGators generally makes coherent sentences, uses paragraphs, has some sense of basic punctuation, etc. Typically those of his ilk type in one big long incoherent blob with no capitalization or punctuation.

Or would adanthar mess up the punctuation on purpose? Or would he not, expecting us to expect him to mess it up on purpose?

I am intrigued by this possibility.

Once again, your problem is that you just don't get it, and your ego will not allow you to accept that you need help and changes to your game, instead you defend your play and your perceived bad luck constantly

If you made a poll about your ability you would recount the votes until you got the answer you wanted.
