Several local politicians explore legalized gaming to offset property taxes. (http://www.telegram.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070406/NEWS/704060710) Not that this will ever see the light of day in this Puritanical Commonwealth, but as a homeowner and gambler it would be nice to see.

Its unlikely that there would ever be state-sponsered gambling (excepting lotteries, keno, horse and dog racing, and other hypocritically allowed pursuits) but it does seem plausible that the Wampanoag tribe (recognized federally as of a couple of months ago) could work out a deal with the state to build a casino somewhere in Eastern Mass.

Massachusetts, "Puritanical"? Did you get the definition of puritanical off wikipedia or something? /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Anyway, being in Boston and a bit too far from Foxwoods for regular trips I would love this.

Not nit, idiot. To live in Boston and not realize how Massachusetts is both liberal and "puritanical" is pretty pathetic.

Institutionalized liberalism and state-sanctioned homosexual marriage belie your quaint characterization. It's 2007, not 1807. Twit.

I'm from out of town and this is the most cockeyed state I've ever had the displeasure of being in but it has nothing to do with not being able to buy beer in a supermarket.
