I'd certainly fold to this massive overbet dude. Too ofeten it is a straight. In 9-handed this is a bigger hand than yours almost certainly.

I'm still learning this stuff, so this is as much to test my own reasoning as to answer OP:

A made hand, in position, facing aggression would probably not
be taking the initiative, and not trying to push you out of the pot with an overbet. He'd call and let you bet again on the river. Maybe with 55 he's raising now for value so scare cards don't quiet you up, but not this much.

A strong draw seems more likely, hoping you fold but with lots of outs if you don't. Any Ax/images/graemlins/spade.gif or Ax/images/graemlins/diamond.gif has 12 outs, AND he's afraid if he waits for the river and hits, he won't get much from it.

you're getting lousy odds -- he'll likely bet the rest on the river -- so I'm not sure I'd stake my stack on that, but watch if he makes a habit of this and hope somebody else calls him so you can see what he's up to. Reads would have helped a lot.
