Sure you can but why would you? Sure you're beat but pot is to big to fold. I'd like to add that I think you're beaten more often than is profitable to call but will get flamed for saying fold, so I say call.

My play is pretty standard otherwise?

I check behind on the river here unless you know he will pay off a hand like KQ. The flush draw isn't calling your bet and most good players are not calling a K with a weaker kicker here.

Is he the type to take a hand like KQ to showdown?

i'd fold here.. you played it fine.. checking behind loses so much value from weaker K's, at these stakes getting 3 streets of value out of AK TPTK is fine.

Lol. A check behind on the river would be sexy considering Hero is first to act. And there is no possible draw for villain to have since the flop was K82 rainbow.

Anyway, expect to be behind a lot, but there is $90 in the pot and it is $21.5 to call so IŽd call.

Is villain's flat call on the turn (assuming he tripped his 8s) a good play? If you were in villains position with 89s would you call the turn bet or raise it up?

If I was villain and hit trip 8s I'd raise it up on the turn. Although he didn't have an 8 - he slowplayed 22.

As played I would call but I don't think I would lead the river.

I just assume an 18/14 probably has some idea of hand values and you're not getting 3 streets of value out of TPTK?

I guess an AF of 1 kind of contradicts that argument. But if you put weight into the AF than you must fold the river push.

The only thing in retrospect I might of done differently is c/c the river. Although then it may look like I was on Axs pushing the semi-bluff hard on every street. But I think if I checked the river I might of seen a near psb anyway, which I would probably be forced to call - so a difference of like $10.

Am I missing something here, or is it 2 spades on the flop, including the 8s? Either I'm crazy or some of the responses are.

I think I call, as the pots offering you too much to not call, but I think you are beaten here a good amount of the time.

Felix - there are two spades on the board - including the 8, I'm not sure what the other posters mean by 89s.
