Final Pot: $53.20

I thought his turn raised clearly said he had the eight and would call an all-in. Maybe he thought I had the straight or something. Was the shove okay?

It's perfect, when a guy with 0.71 aggression raises you and you have the 2nd nuts it's pretty standard to shove. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Seems fine to me; you really want to get it all in and a fairly passive opponent has showed aggression which means he likes his hand. If you called you'd risk losing his action on the river (thought very unlikely) and a smaller raise doesn't seem appropriate.

Yes.. it's fine.. I'm never folding JJ there and it's not even close.

Thanks guys, but I felt to call his turn raise and value bet river would have extracted more value.

I do not think there is value in waiting till a later street. Note that IF opp decided to semi-bluff with a draw, a river card might kill your action. Though an unlikely scenario, I've noticed (and been told) that players do love to shove hands like that on the turn.

Also, it's possible that if your opp wouldn't call a turn shove, he also wouldn't call a river value bet no matter what came.

And lastly, what he calls your river value bet with he would probably call your turn shove with.

All those things together should reinforce the idea that getting it in on this board, on this street, against this oppp, is correct.

i probably would have mini raised on the turn. shoving gives away the strength of your hand. on the river i would have gotten a nice value bet it that he might actually raise.

definitly dont shove here, minraise or call, lead the river no matter what, its so funky he'll have no idea, opp with no idea=+ev

I really prefer just a call although I agree a raise from a 0.75 usually means that he has the 8 and calls the all in, but I donīt think a miniraise is that good. id either call or raise all in. a miniraise usually indicates a way stronger hand than an all in...

I think pushing this turn is okay. I personally like changing it up between pushing (70%) and smooth calling the turn (30%). You have an over full to the board so I am certainly not worried about giving a card. I'd bet out river for $10 and let him come over the top.
