View Full Version : Bad players getting lucky? or smart players taking advantage of TAGs?

The following are a few hands displaying the battle between me and one specific opponent. Being taken for multiple buy-ins by one particular villain raises lots of questions in my mind.
A) Am i just running bad?
B) Is this 64/11 villain playing me like a fiddle?
C) Should i be avoiding these types of players rather than seek them out?

that said... YOU DECIDE. Is this a horrible run of bad luck, or is it a legitimate hole in my game, and in the games of many other TAGs playing 25nl.

Hand 2 is unlucky.
Hand 3 - it happens.

Hand 1 is your own fault because of your crappy bet-sizing. There's a flush draw and 2 opponents in with you and your JJ is vulnerable. Pot that [censored].

Edit - OK, he probably calls anyway. However, my advice to bet the pot still stands.

A 64/11 doesn't play anyone like a fiddle. Hand #1 he would have wound up calling down regardless of whether he hit his second pair or not. Hand #2 - cooler. Hand #3 - I bet more on the turn.

BTW you should reload to 100bb after each hand.

Hand 2 and 3 are painstakingly standard. One there is some debate. Your turn bet sizing is too small. But I think getting all in there isnt atrocious.

Overall, bad luck, but I would definitely bet more. One of my huge mistakes when I first started playing was not betting the full amount of the pot enough, especially in multiway pots. People at these stakes will make alot of calls, and I like to make those calls as painful as possible when I have a strong hand. Keep this, and the board texture, in mind when you make your bets. Ignore the Donkey comment, that guy is positively full of it. The only problem is hand #1. Also, I might be tempted to felt AA after what the guy has shown he can do w/ 96.

Hand 1 as has been posted earlyier really needs to be betted more agressively to protect a hand like JJ

Hand 2 I feel is open for discussion but I personally dont think I'd call it with the possibility of a straight and flush out there (but hey I know its no fun folding QQQ!).

Hand 3 I would only have called if you had a decent read on their style.
