So I told myself when I built up my original online bankroll of $100 to $600 at $.10/$.25 NLHE I'd move up to $.25/$.50. Well, that day has almost arrived, as I'm up to about $510. I have two questions:

1) Is this a good amount to switch at?
2) What are the main differences between the average player at $.10/$.25 and $.25/$.50?

Thanks in advance.

Depends at what point you will move back down. I moved up at $750 with a drop down limit set at $500.

Not a lot. They still can't read the stickies either.

I first started taking shots at $650 but it hurt too much to lose pots so I went back to NL25 until I got to $1250 and it was a good idea for me, I couldn't care less about a buyin up or down now, whereas one buyin at $650 was almost 10% of my roll. It depends on you as a person. Staying longer at a level makes your game more solid though.

I find it quite hard to see any difference between the levels. There's about the same amount of fish though the best players are a little bit better than at NL25.

I moved up to 50NL at 950.

And the difference depends on the site I think. Some sites the players just suck for the most part, but on some at 50NL the players are trickier.

Interesting...seems like I should build up a little more before moving up. I have no problem doing that, as I'd rather move up too late and not be worried about dropping a buy-in than too early and get antsy if I started having a downswing.

Not a good amount IMO, especialy at 6-max. I moved up with 1200$. Will move to 100NL with 3000$. 7-8 buy in downswings can happen. Be patient and build a little bigger roll, I suggest at least 1000$. The difference between 25NL and 50NL, plays pretty much the same. Little more aggression, especialy preflop and more regulars less fish, so you need better game selection. GL

It sure does, i'm on a 7-buyin downswing at 50NL, and I am happy I took the time to build a roll that can substain that kind of drop.

I must be a mega-tightwad. I have $1600 and only three-table the $25 NL. I only planned to move up after I hit well above $2000 (like $2500 or so).
