Could I have played this differently?

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.10 BB (6 handed) internettexasholdem.com (http://www.internettexasholdem.com)

saw flop|<font color="#C00000">saw showdown</font>

CO ($33.90)
<font color="#C00000">Hero ($9.50)</font>
SB ($2.35)
<font color="#C00000">BB villian/ ($8.10)</font>
UTG ($3.90)
MP ($7.15)

Preflop: Hero is Button with J/images/graemlins/heart.gif, Q/images/graemlins/club.gif.
<font color="#666666">3 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to $0.4</font>, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, BB villian/ calls $0.30.

Preflop bet to remove any rubbish catching up on me.

Flop: ($0.85) T/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, 3/images/graemlins/heart.gif, Q/images/graemlins/heart.gif <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">villian bets $0.5</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to $1.5</font>, villian calls $1.

A nice raise to see where he stands with his hand. The fact that he called makes me think 2 pair, trips, TPTK.

Turn: ($3.85) J/images/graemlins/diamond.gif <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
villian checks, Hero checks.

I hit my two pair leaving him with only trips. Still I am careful and try some pot control and check it.

River: ($3.85) 2/images/graemlins/heart.gif <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">villian bets $3</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to $7.6</font>, villian calls $3.20 (All-In).

Final Pot: $17.65

Bingo, he took the bait! Raise him all in and im laughing all the way to the bank.

Could I have played this differently.

Uhhhhhhmm.. So you turn top two and check behind on a VERY draw heavy board? This is not being 'careful'. Then you start raising on the river when the flush comes in? Don't think I dig this.

Btw I think I played with you the other day

looks like he has a flush draw and got there...i woulda bet the turn

raising all in on the river seems pretty bad as he never calls with a worse hand on that board...i would like calling better and folding seems good too

So many draws out there... giving a free river card is just bad poker. BET THE TURN

Bet the turn as others have said. This donk bet is often a nekked FD.

Thanks Guys,

Your comments are very much appreciated and have further echoed my own thoughts on the hand. Its funny, I am working hard to refine my game and know better than this but still try to mix it up foolishly from time to time. Hind sight is so frustrating in this game.

creamfillin,

Drop me a line some time dude, I am really keen on having a couple of poker buddies at my level to progress and improve with.

Ciao,
HF

To add something here:
Your flop analysis is a bit off. Not to say I don't like the size of your raise on the flop, I do, but at $10NL it isn't considered a really large raise and your actually very likely to get a call, although that depends a bit on your table image. But in general you shouldn't be surprised if a flush draw calls your raise. Or pocket deuces.
