Villain in this hand was a good tag, probably the most thinking opponenet on the table. I make a pretty standard raise for me preflop and try to take it down on the flop.

Before betting the turn what does villains hand look like? I think he would play a small-medium pair like this preflop along with higher suited connectors etc. When he flat calls on the flop it looks a lot like a weak overpair such as 77,88,99. So on the turn I try to represent a big pair, this is the first time I've 2 barrelled on this table.

Is my thinking sound here or is this spewage? also how often to you attempt moves like this at 50nl?

I definitely wouldn't have bet the turn. If you think he's holding a small pair then there's a good chance he's hit trips and was just slow palying after the flop. Also, if he's smart then he's probably thinking you don't have a big pair like AA, KK or you wouldn't have bet as high as you did.

22,33,44,55 and 66, which are all likely holdings of the villain, have now made a big hand. He is offering you a free card. I would just check it.

Then of course comes the decision whether to call a bet on the river or not. Usually if you induce you should call the bluff but I can't think of many holdings he will call on the flop with that don't beat you already.

After he flat calls on the flop Im checking the turn with anything less than a straight. He almost definately slowplayed a set on the flop. Think to yourself would you make the same move on the turn if you had a big pair? Against a good opponent I probably wouldn't, so it's definately not a good spot to bluff
