Not sure what to make of this one...
I think his range here is AA/KK/QQ/JJ/AK, so I just tried to control the pot after the flop/turn

You thought villain's range on last hand included AA?? How did you put him on a range of AA/KK/QQ/JJ/AK ?

In that situation, I don't even think I would have tried to put villain on a range. At at 10NL game if I've got AA, and my opponent re-raises me, I'm all-in.

Your a huge favorite to double up if he calls you pre-flop.

The flop sucks for you. I can see calling the turn. would you have called a river bet also?

You're probably losing a good deal of value by not 4-betting less than AI when 100BB deep here.

Anyway, I'd like to see a bigger raise on the flop. I don't think your raise was large enough to define his hand very well. I'd raise to pot.

Your point is valid -- but I have a question in response. If you four-bet here, and villain calls, look what happens on the flop!!

I'm relatively new at Stars, and I'm finding that the uL games are much tighter and more competitive than the other sites where I used to play. Still, I think I'd get enough calls on this play to make up for the lost value.

I also think I'd get enough calls on the four-bet to get hammered like the hero in this hand.

If you disagree, I'd be interested to hear why because I think you're point is a good one.

I have about 15k hands at Stars 10NL, and I am constantly appalled at what I get called with when I 4-bet AI. You might be losing some value against some of the nits, but in general you're not losing that much. If you are not at a table where a 3-betting villain won't call it all-in when you shove, just look for a looser one. Trust me, they're there. To show you how loose these games are, I normally start my session on four or more waitlists, and make it a point to only take a seat at tables where the lobby says more than 55% of the players are seeing a flop. After I sit down, if PAHUD says the average VPIP had dropped below %40, I go to another table.
