Was this quite standard play? Hitting TPTK on flop I thought to bet for value.

When the river bet came from him I figured I was in enough to justify calling an $8 bet. But I was a bit surprised as I had been leading the whole way. Ergo I put him on a monster, but TPTK seemed worth calling as he could have easily had a busted straight, or A-x.

I probably bet around $12 on turn, as played easy call on river getting those odds, raising is fairly pointless.

If he had a monster I think he would have bet a little more on the river. I raise to about 20 here and expect either to take it down or get called by a weaker ace.

Edit: Oh yeah, like goodgamble said, bet more on the turn. 12 dollars sounds about right.

plays like the villains never make much sense to me. I don't see why he would lead here.. as played you have to call.

Against an awkward play like this, I'm not a fan of raising. It's more trouble than it's worth. Strange plays tend to be bluffs or monsters.

Note that villain has half a stack here. Bet more on the flop, 6 or 7- seems minor but it allows you to control the pot the rest of the way better, checking the turn behind in some spots, building a big pot when you want to. But here, flopping TPTK against a shortie, you should get this all in. Pot the turn. As played, I guess just call the river, although I don't think a shove would be that bad.
