it looks like ur beat here. i also dont like betting the river. just check and let him bet it for you. if you want to bet it as a blocker then you cant call the raise.

also regardless of wether you won or lost here dont post in the title does anyone fold this river. it puts a preconcieved notion of the outcome in posters minds. just title it top 2 pair river bet and raise??? or something along those lines

edit: yeah its basically a minraise so im calling here. i thought he made it 6 not 4

As played, I would probably puke and call. I would expect to see a flush here 60% of the time, but its only 2.20 to call..

I like a raise on the turn b/c you don't want to call and have a fourth spade appear

I'd like to see a raise to 0.55ish pre-flop. You are OOP and you don't mind just taking the pot down (4xBB+1 for limper + a little extra for OOP).

I generally want to bet about 0.70-0.80 there on the flop (and I'll be doing the same with my made hands, draws, and monsters).

It may be passive, but I prefer a check call on the river. I get a cheaper showdown and get to see his cards. Since this is my first hand, we have the credit/no-credit theory working (described on cardrunners).

Right now we have credit since we are a new player. We will get respect for our hands until we prove otherwise (by raising a lot, or showing down bluffs or light holdings).

Without any info to go on, we don't know what the weak turn bet means and while we'd like to raise, I'd rather get to the showdown cheaply.

His raise on the river (given that we have credit for a good hand) seems to indicate he thinks he is winning. As long as we think he thinks we have a good/great hand, we have to fold to the raise. We have no history yet for him to just bluff raise us on the river.

My reasons for the check/call on river...

1) I get to see his cards cheaply
2) I get to show my cards (see guys, I raised with a good hand)
3) I get to show that I c-bet when I miss (see guys, I bet on the flop with nothing), and hopefully get paid off when I raise with 22 from the button and the flop comes Ax2.

pretty weak bet by him on turn, with reads i'd usually raise this up, but as played it looks like it was a bet to suck you in. without reads i'll call river, even though its most likely a flush.. but you can never be too sure
